About Stover

Stover is a city in Morgan County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,094 at the 2010 census. It is located at the intersection of Missouri Routes 52 and 135, seven miles east of Versailles and eleven miles west of Cole Camp.

The city was founded in 1875 and is named after John Hubler Stover, a U.S. Representative. Stover grew rapidly in the early 1900s due to its position along the St. Louis–Kansas City Colorado Railroad, which brought commerce and residents to the area.

Today, Stover remains a quiet rural community nestled in the heart of Missouri's Ozark region, known for its strong sense of community and welcoming spirit. Residents take pride in their city's history, their neighbors, and the natural beauty that surrounds them.

City Council Meetings

The Stover City Council meets on the third Monday of each month. All meetings are open to the public — residents are encouraged to attend and participate. Council packets are available for viewing at City Hall at any time.
